This year’s workshop focus will again lie on a well coordinated mixture from basic technique, combinations and improvisation. The uniqueness of this vacation lies in the extensive course offers, which promise a week of intensive learning. The groups will be divided Wednesday afternoon (as arranged with the participants); each group will receive four days of instruction, four hours each day, totaling eight hours with each instructing couple. An additional intention is to keep the structure flexible; so that it may also be possible to arrange some of the instruction units as “experimental sessions,” possibly also for both groups to enjoy together, so that we can try out ideas together. Moreover, Solange & Gonzalo would be happy to offer special workshops on the topic of tango theatre, in which the principles of choreography and stage work would be presented. Gaia & Leandro have likewise offered the idea of special courses on “Neo Tango” topics. In order to prevent the week from flying by too quickly, we have taken care to include valuable free time. Slatine is an authentic and picturesque fishing village, directly on the Adriatic Sea. There are many enticing possibilities for arranging the leisure hours, for example—bathing in the turquoise-colored water, or exploring the sites of interest on the island. In the evenings we will dance together in some of the most spectacular places to be found in Europe: in the old city quarter of Split and in Trogir. Bios Solange (*79) and Gonzalo (*80) began dancing and working together in the year 2003. Since then they have become favored dancers in the international scene. Their stage project “Resurrección” brought them wide acknowledgment in Buenos Aires. With the establishment of C.E.T.A (club experimental de Tango Arte) their long-awaited dream of creating a space in which modern tango theatre would come alive was fulfilled. A cherished characteristic of their work together, is their charismatic instruction style, which renders even the most complex of topics accessible and comprehensible. They appear regularly as teachers and performers in many European cities and tango festivals, such as Wuppertal and Amsterdam. Solange and Gonzalo communicate in Spanish, English and German. Further information can be found at www.tangoscene.com Gaia (*74) and Leandro (*77) have been working together since 2005. Gaia was trained in classical and modern dance in Rome and Paris. In 1998, while in Paris, she discovered Tango Argentino. This has since led her on many journeys to Buenos Aires. Gaia has been teaching for several years in all of Europe. Leandro grew up in Buenos Aires, where he pursued training in Tango and artistic gymnastics. In the year 2005 he traveled for the first time to Europe, where he has since been living and working with Gaia. Today Leandro and Gaia are an established teacher and show couple, who are also booked as tango DJ's all over Europe. Full of feeling and dynamically dancing, they explore the connections between classical and modern elements of Argentinean tango in the improvisation, spontaneity, and sincerity of the movements. Their instruction provides precision and emotion with emphasis on the connection between two individuals. Further information can be found at www.egotango.com |
